The performance of solar PV systems

The performance of solar PV systems is impossible to predict with certainty due to the variability in the amount of solar radiation (sunlight) from location to location and from year to year. This estimate is based upon the Government’s standard assessment procedure for energy rating of buildings (SAP) and is given as guidance only. It should not be considered as a guarantee of performance.

Planning permission

It is the responsibility of the owner or person responsible for the building or land on which a Solar PV installation is to be carried out to ensure that such an installation is permitted under current legislation by enquiring with the relevant authorities.  Planning authority websites have downloadable “Permitted Development Enquiry” forms for householders to submit to check whether an installation is a permitted development or requires planning permission.

It is not the installer’s responsibility to check whether an installation is allowed under planning (permitted development) regulations or requires planning permission.

Quality Value PriceOur “Quality Value Price” pledge ensures that you get the best value through great products, at excellent prices, supported by superb service. We offer clear, honest, expert and impartial advice to ensure our customers feel confident they are making the right Solar PV investment decisions.

With our “Quality Value Price” pledge, we offer to match and beat genuinely comparable* supply & install PV designs if it is economically viable** for us to do so. So, if you have a genuine proposal from a competitor which is lower than ours, as long as the service conditions+ and terms of business they offer are comparable to ours, such as: product quality, delivery charges, installation timescales, deposits and guarantees, and then we’ll match that price for you when you buy from us. We are happy to consider this once for each installation.++

We know price is really important, that’s why we put so much effort into getting it right.  We check and match the prices our competitors offer for products comparable to ours.  It’s important to us that we offer the best quality for the price in the market. It’s not good value if the price and quality of a product mean it must be replaced half way through it’s life.

* We require full written details of the Solar PV design: competitors’ details and prices, products used, delivery charges, installation charges, deposit & payment schedule to judge whether a proposal is directly comparable or not.

** We reserve the right to not match prices if we believe that doing so would prove economically unviable e.g. if a national DIY retailer offers to supply and install Solar PV panels at very low prices because of their greater buying power, and this makes it uneconomical for us to compete, we reserve the right to not do so.

+ Installation must be carried out by MCS accredited installers, using MCS accredited products; electrical work must be carried out by a 17th edition part “P” qualified electrician and the installer must be a member of the REAL Assurance scheme and adhere to the scheme’s code of conduct.

++ If we match a competitor’s proposal and they subsequently lower their offering we will not match it a second time. A price match is a one time only offer, valid for a maximum of one week from date of issue of a matched proposal under our Ts & Cs.
